Advocacy
Advocating for laws, policies, budgets and systems that advance the rights and opportunities of girls.

SOGHA uses six complementary approaches to advance the safety, rights, education, health, empowerment, participation and resilience of Somali girls and young women.
Complementary approaches connect girls, communities, institutions and partners.
Advocating for laws, policies, budgets and systems that advance the rights and opportunities of girls.
Strengthening the capacity of girls, institutions, communities and service providers.
Creating safe and meaningful spaces where girls can learn, connect, organize, advocate and lead.
Generating evidence on emerging issues affecting Somali girls.
Working with families and communities to address harmful social norms and promote supportive environments.
Building strategic relationships with national, regional and international organizations.
If Somali girls are protected from violence, exploitation and harmful practices; have access to quality education, health services and psychosocial support; acquire skills and economic opportunities; understand and exercise their rights; and have meaningful opportunities to participate and lead, while families, communities and institutions become more supportive and accountable, then Somali girls will be better able to realize their potential and contribute to the development of Somalia.
“Girls are not only beneficiaries of SOGHA’s work; they are participants, contributors, advocates and leaders in shaping solutions to the challenges that affect their lives.”
